Thank You Letter From The Mayor![]() With the holiday season upon us, the Village of Eagle Nest has much to be thankful for. I’m particularly proud of the volunteers, citizens and businesses who have shown how much a community can accomplish: We now have Willow Creek, South Tomboy and three blocks of Lake Avenue paved. The paving of Third Street will begin Summer 2011 funded through a MAP grant which will get us closer to finishing the school bus route. No more muddy roads to our school and Community Center! The waste water project that included a new lagoon and the expansion and rebuilding of lagoon #4 is almost complete. The completion of this project will provide the capacity for our current population and future growth. We also will be going out for bids this month for the generator project that will insure the waste water lift stations will continue running if the power goes out. The Economic Development Committee worked diligently on developing the Certified Community Initiative grant. The grant has been submitted and if approved, they will receive $5,000.00 a year for the next three years. Grant funds will be used to help recruit new businesses in the village. The Street Committee completed a resolution that will ensure better road construction. They are now testing a florescent light bulb which potentially could cut the street lighting bills by one third. The Committee is also currently working on safety grants that may come available this year. The Beautification Committee did a great job this year with the clean up days and their beautification projects including the median on Willow Creek. The Park Committee and volunteer citizens planted over one thousand dollars worth of plants. The Committee will be decorating Sullivan Park for Christmas next month. The newly appointed Park Committee has done very well this summer. They have raised over $1,848 through the sell of brick pavers and fundraisers. They are currently working with the Beautification Committee to sell refreshments at Sullivan Park for the tree lighting ceremony. The Committee will also collaborate with Friends of Eagle Nest Lake at the Polar Bear Plunge by selling refreshments. The Enchanted Eagle Park has seen its first improvement with the help of Kite Construction who demolished the old water tower. The “Run For The Wall” Reunion was a big success. The Vets asked me to thank everyone for the pot luck dinner provided in September. They said Eagle Nest is their favorite destination as the people here make them feel at home. Everyone is invited to the annual Community-wide Christmas Pot Luck dinner in December with a visit from Santa Clause. I look forward to seeing everyone there. The Committees worked hard this past summer and I appreciate each member. If you see a member, be sure and thank them! I am available to everyone so please come visit me with any questions or concerns.
